| August 6, 2011 3:00 AM

OTHELLO - Karla Sanchez is the newest member of the Columbia Basin Health Association's (CBHA) Board of Directors.

"Members of the board at CBHA are instrumental in providing the vision and support needed to continue to grow and develop as an organization," said Greg Brandenburg, CEO of CBHA. "Karla's service background and eagerness to improve the community will add to the diversity needed on our board to continue to raise the bar for our organization."

Sanchez, who moved to Mattawa from Mexico in 1994, holds a master's degree in social work. She works at Our Lady of the Desert Church in Mattawa as a pastoral assistant. She works with several youth groups and is involved in the Washington Student Leadership program, which offers bilingual leadership camps for students.

Sanchez looks forward to learning more about the CBHA and "providing feedback from the Mattawa community," she said.
