| April 29, 2011 6:00 AM

EPHRATA - A car and a pickup truck collided head-on, sending the truck into a tree Tuesday on state Route 28, 4 miles east of Ephrata.

Patsy A. Alvarez, 67, Soap Lake, was driving westbound in a 2003 Mitsubishi Gallant when she began to turn left onto a side road, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Alvarez allegedly failed to yield the right of way and struck a 1990 Chevrolet pickup head-on, causing the pickup to leave the road and collide with a tree.

She was transported to Columbia Basin Hospital for treatment of reported abdominal injuries and facial abrasions, according to the state patrol.

The pickup was driven by Kyle R. Baselt, 29, Soap Lake, who was transported to Columbia Basin Hospital for treatment of alleged neck and shoulder pain.

His passenger, Anjannette Million, 36, Ephrata, was transported to the hospital for treatment of a reported cut to her forehead, according to the state patrol.

The state patrol anticipates charging Alvarez with failure to yield.

All three people were wearing seat belts.
