Fishing opens early on the Hoh River

Effective dates: May 14 and May 15, 2011
Species affected: Salmon and gamefish.
Location:
The Hoh River from Olympic National Park boundary upstream to the DNR Oxbow Campground boat launch.
From the DNR Oxbow Campground boat launch upstream to Willoughby Creek.
Reasons for action: The spring chinook fishery is open Wednesdays through Sundays. The normal opening day of May 16, falls on a Monday this year. As a result of discussions with the Hoh Tribe the starting date was moved to Saturday, May 14 offering a full opening on the weekend for both salmon and gamefish. The remainder of the recreational fishery will proceed as listed in the 2011-12 Fishing in Washington fishing pamphlet.
