February 11, 1920 - April 9, 2011

On Saturday, April 9, 2011, Carl A Morrison, beloved husband of Beverly Morrison, passed peacefully into his Savior's care, at the age of 91. Born February 11, 1920, in Eagle Idaho to James A and Rita Mace Morrison, Carl was the 3rd of 4 children and was preceded in death by a son, Jan Kendall Morrison in 1947; brother James Morrison of Boise ID and sister Evelyn of Charleston W VA; and a grandson Rodney Morrison Jr of Juneau AK. Carl attended Gem State Academy.

Carl is survived by his wife of 67 years, Beverly; a son Rod Morrison of Juneau AK; a daughter Kathy and son-in-law William R Lovin DC of Albuquerque NM; and brother Charles Morrison of Tonasket WA. Carl was adored by his 5 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren and his many nieces and nephews. Carl was a devout Seventh Day Adventist. He loved the mountains, hunting and fishing and was an entrepreneur all of his life.

At the age of 19, Carl and brother Charles opened a bakery in Camus WA which was quite successful during a bakers' strike in Portland OR, just across the river. When WWII broke out Carl enlisted in the Army Air Corps and served with the 369th (FIGHTIN' BITIN) Bombardment Squadron of the 306th Bombardment Group as a B17 pilot, flying 35 missions (12 more than required) in Europe. He was in the "first over Germany" attack and returned home with the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Air Medal, awarded to on 636 pilots in WWII for meritorious acts of heroism. He was also given a Certificate of Commendation by France for being part of the liberation of Normandy. Carl was such a modest man that his family only discovered some of this information recently.

Carl and Beverly settled in Ephrata WA where he and brother-in-law Bob Ping opened Ping Electric. It wasn't long until they brought cable TV to every home in Ephrata. Later Carl and Carl A Carlson operated the concessions in Sun Lakes State Park for many years. During this time Carl and Carl also built college housing in Ellensburg WA and several projects in Hawaii, including a high-rise in Honolulu and the Kona Isle condominiums in Kailua-Kona. He was a land developer in Seattle, Oregon and Nevada as well.

Carl retired at 80 years and he and Beverly moved to Palm Desert CA. Carl was active in the Lions Club and veterans' groups until his health no longer permitted.

A military honors tribute will be held in Ephrata WA this Summer. Internment: Ephrata WA.
