PREP BASEBALL: ACH 8-12, Odessa-Harrington 5-4
COULEE CITY - A big first inning in game two led to an Almira/Coulee-Hartline sweep on Saturday.
The host Warriors took two from rivals Odessa-Harrington, winning 8-5 and 12-4 to remain unbeaten in league play.
ACH (11-1, 4-0) thwarted a seventh-inning rally by O-H in game one and then started game two with an eight-run deluge in the first inning.
"This was an important test for us since Odessa-Harrington is one of the better teams in our league and it was important to see how where we stood," ACH head coach Stuart Gloyn said. "O-H is a good hitting team that plays very opportunistic baseball, I was glad to see us jump out to an early lead in both games and keeping the pressure on. "
Coming off a two-week layoff due to game cancellations, ACH saw Jacob Olmstead pitch a complete game for the game one win which included 11 strikeouts.
Drew Isaak followed that up with a complete game of his own in game two while tossing eight strikeouts.
Olmstead helped Isaak's cause with a three-run homer in the fateful first inning.
Colin Deyarmin went 3-for-5 to aid the ACH attack.
