Moses Lake's Bucklin to be inducted into EvCC Hall of Fame

EVERETT - Five former athletes, two coaches and four teams will be inducted into Everett Community College's Athletic Hall of Fame at a dinner May 25.

This is the third year EvCC's Alumni Association has selected outstanding athletes, coaches and teams for the college's Hall of Fame.

The players selected for the Hall of Fame include golfer, Moses Lake's, Ed Bucklin, basketball player Dave Holden, golfer George Holland, football and track Randy Montgomery and Nancy Snyder.

Coaches Joan Dugger and Jim Ennis were also selected for the Hall of Fame.

The college will also induct four teams into the Hall of Fame - the 1967 Trojan football team, the 1964-65 women's tennis team and the 1947 and 1948 men's golf teams.

See below for more information about the inductees.

Bucklin played golf for the EvCC Trojans in 1948 and 1949.

He led the team to state championships in both years and was the Junior College State Medalist both years as well.

Bucklin was also the Everett City Champion in 1948 and is a three-time Snohomish County Amateur Champion, winning the tournament in 1947, 1949 and 1950.

He won the Southern French Open championship in 1952.

He served as an assistant golf pro at both the Everett Golf & Country Club (1954-1955) and the Overlake Country Club (1956-1959) before settling down in Moses Lake, where he was the Head Golf Professional from 1960 until his retirement in 1982.

Bucklin was presented the Ben Hogan Service Award for his years of service on the advisory staff of the Ben Hogan Company in 1980.

Members of the Hall of Fame were selected by a committee of eight community members, coaches and EvCC leaders.

The keynote speaker for the event is former Seattle SuperSonic Donald "Slick" Watts, who played for the team from 1974 to 1978.

After playing in the NBA for six seasons, he became a high school basketball coach and has been actively involved as a teacher in the Seattle School District for more than 20 years.

The event is open to the public and will be held in the College's new Fitness Center. Dinner is $50 per person, with reservations required.
