Reader upset with column

I did not appreciate your "My Turn" article that your wrote about our public school system. The opinion you shared, based on a few petty observations, was not a true representation of our school system. It disgusts me that you would express to our community that the Moses Lake School District staff members are not "good enough" for your/our children. Did you ever stop the think that the man with dirty jeans may have been in maintenance and perhaps he had just been crawling around on the roof top fixing the ventilation system or working outside in the dirt/mud trying to get the sprinkler system going? Or perhaps he was a hard-working staff member's spouse who was invited to join them for a potluck. Perhaps he should have gone home first to change his clothes before joining the staff for the potluck, I mean, how horrible it would be for students to see someone at school with dirty jeans! Or maybe he was a shop teacher or a custodian. In any case, he obviously was a hard-working member of our society. As for the teacher who bent over and bared a few inches of her back. I'm sure she didn't purposely "flash" you, but we're all human and make mistakes. The fact that you were offended by this tells me that you are shallow and insecure. I do not condone kids, or anyone, using foul language but did you stop to voice your concerns to the young man using the f-word? Obviously our staff members can not be in every place at every moment to keep this kind of behavior from happening. If you think that your children will never use the f-word in a heated conversation when they grow up you have a lot to learn. And if you think they will not be exposed to this kind of language in a private school you're plain ignorant.

Ms. Lynch, I did not know who you were until I read the poorly based article that I can't believe was published in the Columbia Basin Daily Herald. Now I know who you are and how you form your opinions. I will never again read any article that you publish.
