Sparkman, Connors win titles at amateur tournament

MOSES LAKE - This year's Grant County Spring Amateur, which took place the entirety of the past weekend, saw some strong performances.

The tournament was held at the Moses Lake Golf Club and saw the Low Gross Field title claimed by Jim Sparkman of Lakeview Golf Course as he scored a 144 to win $400. Also, capturing that same prize amount was Steve Connors (The Moses Lake Golf Club) for Low Net of the Field, scoring a 139.

There were numerous other top prize winners, including:

*GROSS - 1. Chris DeGrazia (Jorgensen Golf), 149, $300; 2. Mike Hickok (Everett CC), 150, $300.

*NET - 1. Jeff Neils (The Links at Moses Pointe), 144, $300; 2. Brady Johnson (The Moses Lake Golf Club), 145, $200; 3. Kyle Hoiness (The Moses Lake Golf Club), 146, $150.

*SECOND DIVISION GROSS - 1. Tom Tiland (Avalon Golf Club), 168, $300; 2. Mike Counsell (The Moses Lake Golf Club), 170, $200.

*SECOND DIVISION NET - 1. Billy Brice (The Moses Lake Golf Club), 140, $300; 2. Kerry Garbe (The Moses Lake Golf Club), 144, $200; T3rd. Jack Krumm (The Moses Lake Golf Club) and Jerry Heilig (The Moses Lake Golf Club), 148, $80 apiece.

Mark Grigg also was reported to have hit a hole-in-one on the 14th hole during Sunday's play.
