MOSES LAKE - All Grant County businesses and agencies that generate small amounts of hazardous waste are urged to participate in a disposal day on Friday, May 13.

The disposal will take place at the Moses Lake Surf n' Slide Water Park parking lot. There will be a fee, but often it is a reduced cost, according to Grant County Solid Waste's Joan Melvin.

To participate, the business or agency must be a small quanitity generator, Melvin said. That means less than 220 pounds per month, with an accumulation of less than 2,200 pounds.

Examples of hazardous waste include spent flourescent light bulbs,  paint thinner, oil based paint, solvents, aerosols, corrosives, pesticides, poisons and oxidizers.

Registration is required before a business or agency can participate. That must be done by May 6 and can be accomplished with a call to 754-6082, ext. 3508.
