Martin Eugene Foster

Martin Eugene Foster, 68, of Othello, died Thursday April 14, 2011 at his home.

Martin was born on June 3, 1942 in Bouckville, NY in Madison County, to Ivan L. and Mary A. "Martin" Foster. He was raised in Bouckville and won many awards showing Holstein cattle at the Madison County Fair, and the State Fair held in Syracuse, NY. He met Kathy Tennant in Madison, NY and they married on August 8, 1964. They moved to Othello, WA, in March of 1975, and Martin went to work as a fertilizer applicator for Soil and Crop Services. In the early 1980's he went to work for Harvest Fresh Packing shed as the plant manager. During the 1990's he started his currently held job as a meat cutter for TLC Meats. In 2002 the union between Martin and Kathy was dissolved.

Martin had many hobbies, he played slow pitch softball in Othello for many years and then became an umpire. He played golf and enjoyed playing the local courses. By far his greatest passion was bowling. He managed the Othello Bowling Alley for a few years, playing in leagues here, then he joined the Thursday night "TLC Meats" team in Moses Lake, sponsored by Ken and Rosie Dockins. He also bowled Wednesday night with the "Wednesday Wonders". He won many awards through the years, his most prized was his four 300 game rings and his four 299 game rings.

Martin is preceded in death by his parents and a sister Rebecca, he is survived by his children, Marie E. Foster and Mark E. Foster of Othello, his grand children, Kyle, Kaleb and Kiera all of Othello, and a great-grandson Nathan, his brothers Fredrick, Michael, Jody and Merle all of NY, Robert of Wisconsin, and his sisters Sybil of Oneida, NY and Tammy Gomez of CA.

A celebration of Martin's life will be held at Stevens Funeral Chapel on Wednesday April 20, 2011 at 6:00 PM.
