Harold J. Lepsche

Harold J. Lepsche, 80, longtime Moses Lake resident went to be with the Lord April 11, 2011. He was at Central Washington Hospital with his loving wife and other family members at his side. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m., Friday, April 22, 2011 at Light & Life Free Methodist Church, 935 W. Valley Road, Moses Lake with Pastor Jon Bartlett, officiating. Harold was born in St. Paul, MN, Nov. 15, 1930 to the late Louis R. and Mary K. (Frantzen) Lepsche. He had two brothers, Louis J. and Howard (Pete) Lepsche both of whom preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife, Pauline (Brown) Lepsche, a sister-in-law, Marlene Lepsche in Hugo, MN, and nieces, nephews, and cousins, and wife's relatives.

Harold attended grade school and high school in St. Paul. He left high school when he was 16 to work in his father's grocery store, Lou's Cash Food Market. His mother became ill and could no longer work so he took her place in the business.

When he was 21, Harold enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and earned his G.E.D. while there. He was stationed in Misawa, Japan and Suwan, Korea with the 1st Air Postal Squadron, 6005th Air Postal Group and in Sept. 1953 was assigned to the 530th Air Defense Group, Geiger Field, Spokane, WA. Harold met his wife, Pauline Brown on a blind date while stationed at Geiger Field. They were married on Oct. 23, 1954. He was honorably discharged from the USAF in January 1955.

They moved to St. Paul for a few months then decided they wanted to live in Spokane. He worked at Kaiser Aluminum for five years then moved to Moses Lake where he was employed at Sigman's IGA for a short while. He passed the postal exam and was employed at the Moses Lake Post Office for 33 years as a Letter Carrier. He retired at the age of 64 from the USPS.

During Harold's working years, he and Pauline took many vacations throughout the United States, including Alaska. They also vacationed in many parts of Canada. Harold was an active member of the Free Methodist Church for many years and has served faithfully in many areas of the work there.

He has been a member of the Central Basin Community Concert Association and served on the Board of Directors as treasurer for a few years.

While employed at the post office, Harold was active in the local branch of the National Association of Letter Carriers and served as treasurer for awhile.

He enjoyed sports both as a spectator and a participant. He golfed, bowled, and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was an active member of the National Rifle Association at the time of his passing.

Harold truly loved the Lord Jesus Christ and is now at rest in Him.
