Chiefs softball dominates
YAKIMA - Ouch. That must have hurt when Moses Lake's softball team went to Yakima and dished out a 19-0, 19-1 doubleheader whitewash of hosts Davis on Friday afternoon.
Moses Lake (9-5, 3-3) won both games in five-inning, mercy-rule wins.
"What can I say when we score 38 runs on 40 hits and commit no errors," Moses Lake head coach Dave Gregory said. "We pitched well and hit well and played good defense."
In the first game Cassandra Guerrero went 4-for-4 with three RBI, Hailee Bishop went 3-for-5, Tressa Radach went 2-for-2 with two triples and two RBI, and Alex Jones went 3-for-5 with four RBI.
Brianna Hoffman went 3-for-4 with two RBI, and Katie Martinez went 4-for-4 with three RBI as well for Moses Lake.
Haylie VanLaethem pitched a one-hitter as she struck out seven to record the win.
In game two, Guerrero went 3-for-5 with a triple and four RBI, Radach added a triple and Tasha Gentry went 2-for-2 with two RBI.
Bree Valdez added a 4-for-4 game with two RBI, and Martinez ended up 2-for-3 with two RBI to back up the winning pitching of Sadie Smigaj.
