Chiefs pullout shootout win vs. rival Panthers

WENATCHEE - It may not have been the way they wanted to win, but

a victory in Big 9 play against your biggest rival is still

something to be cherished.

The visiting Moses Lake Chiefs travelled to Wenatchee on Wednesday

and despite being shutout for 80 minutes their defense was able to

return the favor to send the game into overtime.

WENATCHEE - It may not have been the way they wanted to win, but a victory in Big 9 play against your biggest rival is still something to be cherished.

The visiting Moses Lake Chiefs travelled to Wenatchee on Wednesday and despite being shutout for 80 minutes their defense was able to return the favor to send the game into overtime.

After the two rivals couldn't score even with the additional time, the match would be decided in a penalty shootout.

There, the Chiefs would win 4-3 as Miguel Martinez drove home the winning PK after a third Panthers' miss set the table for the heroic kick.

Moses Lake (3-5-1, 2-4) came back strong defensively after giving up six goals over the weekend against Davis.

"Every Chief contributed to fight out a hard battled win," Moses Lake head coach Bill Bertram said. "Our goalkeeper Luis Villa and Kasey Grant played really well for us tonight."

Scoring the first three penalties for Moses Lake were Sean Cotton, A.J. Montes, and Tanner Hunt.
