Police call finds deceased 13-year-old

MATTAWA - Recent calls to which Mattawa Police responded included a call to 200 East 4th Street at which a 13-year-old boy with a history of medical challenges was found deceased.

The call occurred on March 31 at mid-morning. According to Police Chief Steve Jensen, there was nothing police could do but call for an ambulance. It was too late. The boy was pronounced dead at the scene.

The boy suffered some sort of cardiac or respiratory arrest, Jensen surmised. He was found unconscious and not breathing by police.

In a "man down" call at 1:14 a.m. on March 26, police found a man, undressed but conscious and breathing, on the ground at 521 Government Way. Police determined it was a case of over-intoxication, Jensen said.

In a vehicle damage call to Vern Ave. at about 8 a.m. on March 26,  police encountered a victim whose vehicle had been "hit by someone." There was minor damage.
