Douglas L. Stroud

Douglas L. Stroud, 67, longtime Moses Lake resident passed away Saturday, April 9, 2011 at Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane surrounded by his loving family. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, April 14, 2011 at the Elk's Lodge, 814 N. Stratford Rd., Moses Lake with Pastor Floyd Wilks officiating. Private family inurnment will be at the Columbarium in Guarding Angels cemetery, Moses Lake. Douglas was born on May 16, 1943 in Seattle, Washington, son of the late Lisle A. and Alyce O. (Wicks) Stroud. He was raised and educated in the Seattle area and went to the University of Washington for a few years before entering the U.S. Navy. After his honorable discharge from the Navy, Douglas graduated with his bachelor's degree from Central Washington University. He was married to Carol A. Jordan on March 3, 1973 in Waterville, living a few months in Wenatchee before the bank Douglas was working for transferred him to Mount Vernon. In 1975 they moved to Moses Lake where they have lived since. Douglas has spent the last 20 years as an auditor for the Dept. of Labor & Industries. He was a member of the Eagles Lodge #2622 and the American Legion and a life member of the Elks Lodge #1930. Douglas loved spending time with his family, especially watching his grandchildren play baseball. Douglas and Carol enjoyed trips to the ocean.

He is survived by his loving wife, Carol, Moses Lake; one daughter & son-in-law, Deanne & Joe Collier, Kennewick; one son, Scott Stroud, Seattle; one brother & sister-in-law, Captain Lisle Arthur (Mary) Stroud, Jr., Virginia; 3 grandchildren, Blake, Brayden and Braxton Collier and one grand dog, Ollie; numerous nieces & nephews
