WHITE SWAN - Now on to bigger and better things.

On Saturday, the Warden Lady Cougars completed their season sweep of Central Washington South 2B rivals White Swan with an 18-5, 24-2, sweep of their hosts in a doubleheader.

Four days earlier, Warden (6-2, 3-0) blitzed White Swan in a 20-0 home victory.

"We struck out seven times in our last outing, and we only struck out three times all day today," Warden head coach Wes Richins said, "We saw the ball well and hit it even harder.  That is what we are working on,   good, productive at-bats."

In the first game, a 11-run third inning was plenty to spark the Lady Cougars in an 18-hit attack.

Cassondra Platas led the way for Warden's offense, going 4-for-5, while Amanda Elizalde went 3-for-4, and winning pitched Iris Rodriguez went 2-for-3.

Tawnie Gonsalez and Elizabeth Pruneda each hit a home run, with the latter's being a grand slam.

"After two innings we were down 3-2 and then we started to play, having the next ten batters scoring in a row," Richins said. "Our bats really caught fire and that carried into the next game as well.  I was proud of the way then battled through some tough playing conditions."

The nightcap saw another 11-run third inning as Warden scored 20 runs over their last three at-bats, knocking out 21 runs and taking advantage of five White Swan errors.

Platas earned the win from the mound and Narcy Guerra, Bianca Hernandez, Brenda DeLeon, and Rodriguez all went 3-for-5. Hernandez hit two home runs including a grand slam and knocked in eight RBI to wrap up a 5-for-9 day.

Pruneda went 3-for-4 and Stacee Villareal and Platas ended up 2-for-3.

"We all hit well today but it was nice to see Bianca have a tremendous day," Richins said.
