DOC HASTINGS

| April 8, 2011 6:00 AM

I want to comment on Don Majors' March 31, 2011 letter to the editor concerning Doc Hastings. Mr. Majors is correct in pointing out that "Doc" wants to cut "entitlements" like Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, Veterans, Disability and those living in poverty. But, did you notice, that Doc does not mention cutting the farm subsidy program - a federal government program that spends $10- to $30 billion a year in the U.S. subsidizing farmers (source: New York Times, Jan. 15, 2011). Why are farmers entitled to their money and the rest of us are not? Is that because they contribute big dollars to Doc's campaigns? That is why Doc is a hypocrite. He says, "Let's get the Federal government (just the dollars) out of our lives, except if you're a farmer." Send letters to Doc and let him know what's up!
