1926-2011

Mabelle Brouette passed away peacefully at her home with her family by her side on the morning of March 17th, 2011.

She was born in South Dakota on May 19th, 1926, the daughter of Elef and Gunhild Wold, immigrants from Norway. She was very proud of her Norwegian heritage.

As a young mother she brought her three children and the family dog to Moses Lake to escape the harsh winters of South Dakota and made her home here for many years while she raised her children. While she worked in the local processing plants she made many friends who remained close throughout her life.

She moved to Seattle for a time, and while there was employed by a doctor and his wife, as a nanny to their children of whom she grew quite fond She continued to work as a nanny in Reno for several families, because she loved taking care of children. Finally, she returned to Moses Lake and her friends. She loved animals, gardening and baseball as well as her many friends and was dedicated to her close-knit family and her children who considered her to be the very best mom.

She lost her parents at an early age but managed to keep in touch with and remain close her large family of thirteen brothers and sisters.

Several brothers and sisters preceded her in death.

One daughter, Rebecca Hammond, two sons, Richard Davenport and Len Brouette and a grandson, Eric Hammond, whom she was very proud of, survive her. Her sister Olga in South Dakota and a brother Jim in Nebraska also survive her.

She will be greatly missed by all her friends and family.

A memorial service will be held by her family at a later date.
