Vikki Inez (Melin) Scott
Vikki Inez (Melin) Scott, 41, of Moses Lake, passed away peacefully Saturday evening, March 26, 2011 in her home. She was surrounded by her family and loved ones. She was holding her husband's hand when she took her leave. A long battle with breast cancer is finally over. (or we could say "finally won").
Vikki was born September 15, 1969 and became the delight and joy of her parents John & Julie Melin. She graduated Moses Lake High School in 1988. While in school Vikki was a self-proclaimed band geek and the school's Drum Major. She loved music and her favorite instruments were the flute, oboe, saxophone and french horn.
"Chemistry" is what brought Vikki together with her husband Shane. Seriously, it was Chemistry at Big Bend Community College. While attendance was called that first day of class, Shane spun around searching for the familiar face of the girl he knew from high school. They spoke after class, and Vikki agreed to meet him later for their first date, which was oddly enough, watching Shane's bowling team. She was his good luck charm and of course his team won and the two spent the rest of the evening talking. They have been together ever since. Vikki married Shane December 2, 1995.
Vikki left Moses Lake briefly to nanny in Miami, Florida & for Medical Assistant training in Portland, Oregon. When Shane and Vikki's first child Piper Anne was born they returned to Moses Lake where family could help care for their new bundle of joy. In a few short years Vikki's miracle child, Zoey Kathryn, joined the world 3 months early, weighing in at 2 pounds 4 oz. The family wasn't complete, however, until Dane Rylan made his debut just thirteen months later.
Vikki began her professional career working for Dr. Earl in 1997. His office, filled with amazing people, became her second family. Through her years with this office she held numerous positions. Her family wishes to sincerely thank everyone there for their love and support throughout this whole ordeal.
Vikki is survived by her husband Shane and her children Piper, Zoey and Dane. She is also survived by her parents, John & Julie Melin & three siblings, her older brother Mike Melin of Valencia, Spain, her older sister Stephanie Hobson of Sterlington, Louisiana & her younger sister Candace Van Hoof of Beaverton, Oregon.
A memorial service celebrating her life will begin 3 p.m. Saturday, April 2, 2011 at the Moses Lake Alliance Church.
