Reader thankful for support of contest

| April 1, 2011 6:00 AM

Moses Lake High School celebrated National Career and Technical Education Month in February. As a part of our celebration, for the past 10 years, the Chamber of Commerce education committee has sponsored an essay contest for students in 4th through 8th grades. This year the topic was: "What I would like for a career, and why."

We had over 349 essays turned in, district-wide, with a range of career choices from barrel racers, authors, dolphin trainers, special needs teachers, game designers, executive chefs, world wrestling entertainers to an astrophysicist.

On behalf of the Moses Lake School District, and the Moses Lake Chamber of Commerce, we would like to send a big thank you to the following businesses that gave so generously to support and encourage our students with their future careers:

Columbia Basin Barrel Racing Club, Staples, Hastings, Ted Mack of Discover Elementary, Sucker Punch Game Design Company and Darren Bridges of Bellevue, Wash., Pillar Rock Grill and Sameh Farag, Fairchild Air Force Base and Mr. King and Mr. Hamm.

Thanks, also, to all the wonderful teachers whose students participated in this contest.
