Jerome J. Harrington, 83, long time Moses Lake resident passed away Tuesday, March 22, 2011 at Samaritan Hospital surrounded by his children and grandchildren. Holy Rosary will be prayed at 6 p.m., Friday, April 8, 2011 at Kayser's Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 9, 2011 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church with Father Seamus Kerr as Celebrant followed by interment at Valley View Cemetery in Soap Lake, WA. A reception will follow interment at the Block 40 Building. Arrangements are in care of Kayser's Chapel & Crematory, Moses Lake. Jerome was born November 10, 1927 to the late John and Myrtle (Turner) Harrington in El Pasco Township, Wisconsin, where he was raised. He graduated from Ellsworth High School in 1945 and enlisted in the United States Navy. He served 2 years where he spent time in the post World War II Occupation of Japan. Following his Honorable Discharge he returned to Wisconsin. In 1952 he and his brother Neil, moved to the Block 40 Area to establish a new farm in what would become a part of the Columbia Basin Reclamation Project.

Jerome married Louise Goheen on October 24, 1964 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Spring Valley, Wisconsin.

Jerome was an avid fisherman and hunter. He also enjoyed carpentry and made many life-long friends while working on the building of the 3rd Power House at Grand Coulee Dam.

After semi-retiring from farming in 2002, Jerome was able to spend more time with his children and grandchildren and travel to visit extended family. Jerome was an avid sports fan. He loved watching his son's participation in football and basketball as well as any sport on television. Jerome spent many hours reading his beloved newspapers.

Jerome is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Cheri & Marvin Yamane of Warden, WA; sons and daughters-in-law, Tim & Jennifer Harrington of Lake Stevens, WA, Michael and Bonnie Harrington of Kennewick, WA, and Patrick & Amy Harrington, of Anacortes, WA; a sister, Janet Langer of St. Paul, MN; and 10 grandchildren, Madison, Taylor and Morgan Yamane, Grace and Jacob Harrington, Mackenzie, Tanner, and Blake Harrington, and Brennan and Ryan Harrington.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Louise, 5 sisters and 2 brothers.

Jerome will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him.
