GRANDVIEW - At Black Rock Creek Golf Course on Monday, the Othello Huskies golf team asserted itself behind some stong play and held on for the title of the Grandview Invitational.

Othello shot a team total, 326 while Ephrata took second Place overall with a score of 332.

Ephrata Tiger Andrew Whalen was the medalist for 18-holes, shooting a 74, two-over par, winning a two-hole playoff against Rylee Iacolucci of Cle Elum.

Othello was led by Sam Para's 76, while Jared Kummer ended up with an 80 and Colton Hall's 82.

Trevor Salsbury finished with a score of 88 to round out the official team total.

Behind Whalen, Maitias Dilling shot an 80, Cody Cummings rang up an 81, and Zach Dwyer ended up with a 97.

Over all we played well and are getting better," Ephrata head coach Greg Hewitt said. "Mattias and Cody shot their best rounds for Black Rock Creek and it was a good experience for freshman Zach."

GRANDVIEW - The Ephrata Lady Tigers golf team continues its strong start to the season and rolled to some solid scores as they battled at Black Rock Creek on Tuesday.

The Lady Tigers came ready to go against shorthanded Grandview and Prosser teams.

After 18 holes the Lady Tigers, who were without Allie Duff who was nursing a shoulder injury, got some strong performances from Megan Criss (99) and Kelsey Sage (106).

Ann Slininger and Areil Durham also participated in the match.

"I am hoping giving Allie this week to rest and next week with spring break," Ephrata head coach Heidi Burns said. "She will be ready to come back and help the team for our first league match.  Black Rock is a tough course but the girls did pretty well for their first 18 hole match and with it being so cold.  Today was a first for Ann and Areil."
