GRANT COUNTY CORONER

Dave Matney for coroner! The coroner does not go to every death and transport the deceased to the funeral home. The coroner is called out for unexpected, suspicious deaths and, of course, murders, fatality car accidents, as well as other deaths by violence. Dave, with all of his investigative experience, can do this.

If anything should happen to the sheriff, the coroner steps in and takes over as sheriff until the political party represented chooses alternative choices. Those choices are given to the Grant County commissioners, who in turn make the final decision. The whole process would be lengthy. Could Mr. Morrison take over as the top law enforcement official of Grant County? Dave worked at the sheriff's office for 18 years as a deputy and detective.

I can't see Mr. Morrison being called out at 1 a.m. for a homicide in Mattawa and the investigation taking up to 12 hours.

Mortuary experience versus investigative experience is no match for the coroner's position.
