Rodney Watson, 93, born August 17th, 1917 to Clarence and Hennie

Watson in Jamestown, ND, went home to be with the Lord on September

26th, 2010. He will always be remembered as a man who loved his

family, his country, the outdoors and the Lord.

Rodney Watson, 93, born August 17th, 1917 to Clarence and Hennie Watson in Jamestown, ND, went home to be with the Lord on September 26th, 2010. He will always be remembered as a man who loved his family, his country, the outdoors and the Lord. Rodney's death was preceded by his wife of 50 years Francis Watson. He is survived by his brother Cleon Watson; children Steve Watson, Gail Watson, Cindy Akins and husband Tom, Sandy Taggares and husband Pete; grandchildren Aaron Watson, Jamie Paul, Peter Taggares and Jessica Taggares. He also leaves behind 5 great-grandchildren.

Rodney spent his childhood in Modesto, California and graduated from Modesto High School. He attended Modesto Junior College where he played basketball and won a Junior College Championship in boxing in the 135 lbs weight division.

He served in the Army Air Corps during WWII from 1942-1945 as a pilot of P-38 and P-51 airplanes. Rodney flew over 100 missions including D-Day and clocked over 300 hours of air combat.

In 1953, Rodney and his wife Francis moved to Warden, Washington where he worked in construction and later farming. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and had a passion for gardening. Rodney's lifelong hobby was taxidermy, which he passed along to his son and grandson. He was a long-time member of the Warden First Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 1st, 2010 at 11 AM at the Warden First Baptist Church, 1017 S. Grant St, Warden, WA 98857.
