COLUMBIA BASIN SECONDARY 3, Cascade Christian 1

MOSES LAKE - Behind an improving service game and a defense that wouldn't let down, the Columbia Basin Secondary School defeated Cascade Christian 3-1 (25-23, 25-20, 23-25, 25-20) last night.

Crystal Lloyd led the host Phoenix (3-1) with 11 kills while Jerinn Anderson added eight in the win.

The Phoenix have won three more matches than all of last year when they went winless in 14 matches.

"They're playing as a team and we have some experience that is pulling the team together," Phoenix head coach Terri Pixlee said. "We have a lot of young players that are returning starters are really helping out."

Marissa Danielson added four kills and Jaquese Hardin chipped in with three kills.

Despite the win the Columbia Basin Secondary coaches are still looking for improved play.

"It does seem like we are still a little too loose out there so we need to clean up some of our strategy," Pixlee said. "We need to clean up our offensive and defensive plays. But it's good that they're natural athletes."

She was also happy with the team's serving.

"The good serves are also way outweighing the misses," Pixlee said. "We had only 15 missed serves in the whole four games which is low from us."
