TOPPENISH - After two consecutive struggles on their home field, the Othello Huskies football team has found a way to balance the scales away from home.

Othello kept alive their post season and Central Washington Athletic Conference (CWAC) title hopes alive with a key win at previously unbeaten Toppenish, 33-14, on Friday night.

The Huskies (2-2, 2-1) won their second straight game on the road, including a 61-0 win at Quincy two weeks earlier.

"It's good for us to win either home or away," Brad Swenson, Othello defensive coordinator said. "It is an important win for us and we're improving every week so that's helping. "

Othello used a 19-7 fourth quarter to pull away from a tight 14-7 battle.

Dustin Rodgers caught a 25-scoring pass from David Garza to give Othello a 20-7 lead and then Caleb Garza ran for a 25-yard score to make it 27-7.

Toppenish (3-1, 2-1) would score once more to stay alive but then Caleb Garza scored his fourth touchdown of the game on a 35-yard run to ice the win.

"Basically we started to wear them down in the fourth quarter with our running game," Swenson said. "We still need things to work on defense but we are getting better every week. They got one big run on us but each week we keep getting things figured out."

Caleb Garza ran 21 times for 216 yards and also had an eight-yard touchdown run in the first quarter and a five-yard score in the third quarter.

Amando DeLeon added 48 yards on seven carries.

Overall, Othello rushed for 304 yards while David Garza's hook up with Rogers was the only pass completion on the night for the Huskies.

Toppenish ran for 278 yards and gained 312 yards of total offense in the loss.
