their fast-hitting hosts in a 43-27 loss on Friday.

Maybe it was a case of rust but the Eagles could not overcome their fast-hitting hosts in a 43-27 loss on Friday.

Tekoa-Oakesdale/Rosalia scored the game's first 27 points and held on for the win.

"The layoff definitely has hurt with only two games," Joe Worsham, Soap Lake head coach said. "Rosalia had 42 kids on their roster and they had better blockers and tacklers than us. We shot ourselves in the foot early."

Soap Lake (1-1) got on the scoreboard in the second quarter on a Pavel Turchik 64-yard reception from David Coreas to narrow the gap to 27-7 at halftime.

But the hosts scored the first nine points of the third quarter to cement the win.

Turchik caught a 78-yard pass from Coreas and also returned a kickoff for 85-yards to lead the Soap Lake attack.

Soap Lake's rushing attack was held to eight yards on six carries while Coreas threw for 256 yards and three touchdowns including one to Stinus Resen for 36 yards.

Turchik caught four passes for 153 yards, Anthony King had three catches for 32 yards, while Jacob Treat nabbed three receptions for 27 yards.
