MOSES LAKE - A young girl was walking north on Stratford Road when she said a man tried to abduct her Tuesday afternoon.
She told the Grant County Sheriff's Office a large, newer-model, light blue four-door car with tinted windows was traveling north on Stratford Road when it turned around and drove back toward her, according to Undersheriff John Turley.
The car stopped in front of her and the driver got out, asking if she wanted a ride. ?She declined and the driver grabbed her by the wrist, according to Turley. The man tried to pull her into the passenger-side back seat of his car.
After struggling with the driver for about 45 seconds, she said she was able to pull free from him and ran home.
She describes the driver as a Hispanic male in his 20s and about 5 foot 8 inches tall with a stocky build. He had a long black ponytail and spoke perfect English.
He was wearing a long T-shirt with dark blue jeans at the time of the incident, according to the sheriff's office. He was clean-shaven with no visible tattoos.
After the altercation, the girl said she saw the car turn around and head north on Stratford Road again.
Sheriff's office officials are advising those in the area to be extra cautious.
Law enforcement officials are asking anyone with information about the suspect to call 9-1-1.
