OFFICIAL NOTICE OF NOMINATION MEETINGS AND ELECTION OF MEMBERS FOR THE WASHINGTON ASPARAGUS COMMISSION

Pursuant to chapter 15.65 RCW, I, Dan Newhouse, Director of

Agriculture for the state of Washington, hereby give notice that

public meetings will be held at the Washington State Department of

Agriculture, 1111 Washington St. SE, 2nd Floor, Olympia , WA on

October 4, 2010 for the purpose of nominating candidates for

Positions 1, 3, 5 and 7 (Handler-Fresh) on the Washington Asparagus

Commission. The current terms will expire December 31, 2010.

Pursuant to chapter 15.65 RCW, I, Dan Newhouse, Director of Agriculture for the state of Washington, hereby give notice that public meetings will be held at the Washington State Department of Agriculture, 1111 Washington St. SE, 2nd Floor, Olympia , WA on October 4, 2010 for the purpose of nominating candidates for Positions 1, 3, 5 and 7 (Handler-Fresh) on the Washington Asparagus Commission. The current terms will expire December 31, 2010.

All affected producers of asparagus in Districts 1 and 2 and all affected handlers are entitled to participate and nominate candidates from their respective district. Nominations may be made in person at the meeting or telephonically by calling (360)902-1802 for the following positions at the indicated time:

Position 1, District 1 - 9:30am - 10:00am

(District 1 includes the counties of Benton, Kittitas, Klickitat, and Yakima.)

Positions 3 & 5, District 2 - 10:00am - 10:30am

(District 2 includes the counties of Adams, Franklin, and Grant.)

Position 7 - Handler Fresh - 10:30am - 11:00am

The next term of office for all positions will be from January 1, 2011 to December 31, 2013. The qualification of members of the board must continue during their term of office.

If you are unable to attend the meeting, nominations may also be made by written petition if signed by five or more affected producers or fresh-handlers of asparagus. Written petitions must be mailed or faxed to: Washington State Department of Agriculture, Commodity Commission Coordinator, PO Box 42560, Olympia, WA 98504-2560, Fax: (360)902-2092, and postmarked no later than October 12, 2010.
