MOSES LAKE - A man shot himself in the head during a routine

traffic stop by Moses Lake police Monday.

MOSES LAKE - A man shot himself in the head during a routine traffic stop by Moses Lake police Monday.

The man suffered serious injuries, according to Moses Lake police Capt. David Ruffin.

The victim was driving a white Toyota Camry with Idaho license plates.

The incident took place near the intersection of West Broadway Avenue and South Ash Street.

During a routine traffic violation stop, the approaching officer heard a loud noise and radioed for additional assistance, said Ruffin.

When the officers approached the vehicle, they found the man with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.

He was taken to Samaritan Hospital for his injuries.

No other details were provided.

Moses Lake police will search the car and investigate further into the incident.
