WARDEN - Bouncing back from a tough loss two days earlier, the Warden Lady Cougars won their first match of 2010 season last night.

Warden, led by the hitting of Carter Marks and the serving and setting of Lindsay Cole pulled away from Lake Roosevelt in a 3-1 (25-15, 25-22, 23-25, 25-23) win.

Warden (1-2, 1-1) got 10 kills, three aces and two blocks by Marks, while Cole went 15-for-15 serving while distributing 23 assists.

It was nice to get a league win under our belt," Warden head coach Jeff Kottong said. "In game two, we got down 8-2 and the girls kept their cool and took control of the game back."

Other top performances by Warden came from Iris Rodriguez who had seven kills, five blocks and 36 digs, Keisha Urwin who ended the night with six kills and Nancy Guerra who registered 29 digs and three aces.

"Both Iris and Carter had a strong presence at the middle blocker and hitting position," Kottong said.

Chelsea Brown chipped in with 27 digs, four assists, and one service ace.

"We still have some things we need to work on, but I was pleased with the outcome," Kottong said. "The girls never give up. Our passing is improving, but we can always do a little better."
