Mardon Fishing Report
MARDON - Sand Dunes duck hunters enjoyed windy weather on opening weekend 2010. Our guided group flirted with limits and our non-guided group all had great action.
Mark Peterson directed the 2010 fall walleye index netting on Potholes Reservoir. Mr. Peterson led his team of biologist on this successful study. The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife Warmwater Team was helped by a group of volunteers representing The Central Washington Fish Advisory Committee (www.cwfac.org). Without the donated time of the volunteers this project would be very difficult. The data from the study will be studied to identify the populations of fish and their health plus much more. After the data studied has been completed, our biologists will have science to determine minimum size requirement, limits and harvest of large walleye. Everything appears positive watching the study to support a limit of eight walleye, a minimum size of 12-inch and one fish over 22-inch. However the data must be studied to support a continued liberal limit.
