Reader backs Frank DeTrolio

This letter is to the Republican voters of Grant County. In the upcoming election for county sheriff we will have to choose between two Republican candidates. Sheriff DeTrolio has been a long time member of the republican party. His opponent on the other hand only recently joined the Republican party, well after he announced his intention to run for sheriff as a Republican.

Over the past few years, we as republicans have asked our elected officials to reduce spending, Sheriff DeTrolio has done that. When approved, his 2011 budget will be about the same as the 2007 budget. This is not easy, it takes a great deal of prioritizing, plus other means of funding. Sheriff DeTrolio would love to have a greater budget  but economic times don’t allow for it.

DeTrolio’s opponent said recently on a local radio talk show, that the sheriff’s office was just getting by in his opinion. In my opinion that’s how it should be. There are millions of Americans just getting by right now and many that aren’t getting by at all. DeTrolio’s opponent has talked about things he will change, he will do differently and he will add. But I have not one time heard him say how he intended to pay for it. This sounds like the politics coming out of Washington DC right now.

Anybody can put an (R) or GOP on their campaign sign and call themselves a Republican. We all know that running under any other party in Grant County is almost sure defeat over the past several years. I believe we should keep those who share our views, ideals and values, in office. I ask that you join me in voting for Frank DeTrolio Grant County Sheriff. A true Republican candidate.
