Dorothy Schaat

Dorothy Schaat, 82, passed away October 13, 2010 in Moses Lake, WA.

She was born to Ralph and Elizabeth (Gray) Golder on April 23, 1928 in Salt Lake City, Utah. She grew up in Menan, ID and graduated from Midway High School. She married Frank Schaat in December of 1950 and together they were proud parents of five children, four daughters and one son. Frank passed away in June of 1997.

She lived both in Washington and Idaho most of her life. Her passion for caring and helping people led her back to school with four small children at home to receive her nursing degree from Big Bend Community College in Moses Lake, WA. After retiring from nursing, she served a Family History mission in Salt Lake City for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Dedicated in family history she did name extractions for many years. She enjoyed painting and gardening, but most of all, she loved to dance.

She is survived by her five children and spouses, Frances Gunn, Lucinda (Bill) West, Jennifer (Al) Merritt all of Moses Lake; Peter (Betty) Schaat of St. Anthony, ID; Elaine (Matt) Williams of Brigham City, UT; twelve grandchildren and spouses, Shawn (Jill) Robnett, Jeff (Carrie) Robnett, Amy and Emily West, Jake Later, Paige and Trent Beierman, Ryan and Cade Schaat, Madison, Cole and Seth Williams. Nine great-grandchildren and five siblings, sister Irene Schaat of Rexburg, ID; brother Bert (LaRee) Golder of Menan, ID, sister Marian (Gyle) Hollingsworth of North Ogden, UT, brother Steven (Barbara) Golder of Menan, ID and brother Ray Golder of Bountiful, UT.

The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. October 16, 2010 in St. Anthony, ID at the 2nd Ward LDS church building, 145 East 1st North. A viewing will be held prior to the funeral at 11:30 a.m. in the church. Interment will be in the St. Anthony (Riverview) Cemetery.
