Man dies in head-on collision
EPHRATA — Barry D. Scoby, 58, Moses Lake, died after a head-on collision on state Route 282 east of Ephrata, Friday night.
Scoby was driving his 2001 Honda Accord eastbound, at city limits, when he reportedly crossed the center line, striking a 1995 Ford Windstar, according to the Washington State Patrol.
He was transported to Central Washington Hospital, where he died roughly four hours later.
The state patrol reported he was not wearing a seat belt.
The Windstar was driven by Dorretro C. Olivera, 43, Quincy. She was transported to Columbia Basin Hospital for reported bruised ribs, according to the state patrol.
Lillana A. Olivera, 41, Quincy, was a passenger in the Ford along with a 12-year-old girl, a 10-year-old girl and a 4-year-old boy. The children were examined at Columbia Basin Hospital as a precautionary measure.
All of the occupants in the Windstar were reported to have been properly restrained, according to the state patrol.
No charges are anticipated and there was no further information about the cause of the accident.
