Chiefs fall athletes earn Big 9 league honors

MOSES LAKE - The Moses Lake Chiefs' football, volleyball, and soccer teams saw a number of their athletes earn Columbia Basin Big 9 all-league honors over the past week for their achievements during the fall season.

The volleyball team, that just missed a state berth by losing 15-13 in the fifth set against Wenatchee, was represented by middle blocker Kayla Bernsen, who was named to the first team and setter Markie Fancher who earned second team honors.

In football, the Chiefs (3-7) earned top recognition for Matt Franz, who was named unanimous first team defensive back and second team wide receiver.

Cameron Law earned second team kickoff and punt returner and honorable mention defensive back, while Kabe Fluaitt (second team defensive lineman), Taylor LaGrave (honorable mention defensive back), Chris Guerra (honorable mention defensive lineman), Jordan Pope (honorable mention linebacker), Kyler Moats (honorable mention wide receiver) and Willy Camacho (honorable mention offensive lineman) earned their individual recognition for their achievements.

Soccer players, Magie Munoz (first team midfielder), Colby Happer (second team midfielder), Kelsie Grant (second team midfielder), and Abby Stones (second team defender), earned honors for their play on the pitch for the Chiefs.
