OFFICIAL NOTICE OF NOMINATION MEETING AND ELECTION OF MEMBERS FOR THE WASHINGTON TURFGRASS COMMISSION
Pursuant to chapter 15.65 RCW, I, Dan Newhouse, Director of
Agriculture for the state of Washington, hereby gives notice that
public meetings will be held at the Natural Resources Building,
1111 Washington St. SE, Olympia, WA on November 23, 2010 for the
purpose of nominating candidates for Position 1 and Position 3 on
the Washington Turfgrass Seed Commission.
Pursuant to chapter 15.65 RCW, I, Dan Newhouse, Director of Agriculture for the state of Washington, hereby gives notice that public meetings will be held at the Natural Resources Building, 1111 Washington St. SE, Olympia, WA on November 23, 2010 for the purpose of nominating candidates for Position 1 and Position 3 on the Washington Turfgrass Seed Commission. The current terms will expire January 31, 2011. Nominations may be made in person at the meeting or telephonically by calling (360)902-1802 for the following positions at the indicated time:
Position 1, District 1 – 1:30 p.m. – 2:00 p.m.
(District 1 includes the counties of Chelan, Douglas, Ferry, Okanogan, Pend Oreille, Spokane and Stevens)
Position 3, District 3 – 2:00 p.m. – 2:30 p.m.
(District 3 includes the counties of Adams, Franklin, Grant and Lincoln.)
All affected producers of turfgrass in District 1 and District 3 are entitled to participate and nominate candidates from their respective district. Qualifications for affected producer members require that the candidate be a practical producer of turfgrass seed in the district in and for which they are nominated and elected, a citizen and resident of the state of Washington, over the age of 18 years, and actively engaged in producing turfgrass seed within this state for a period of three years and has, during that time, derived a substantial portion of his/her income thereform. A producer member cannot be engaged in business as a handler or other dealer. The qualifications of members of the board must continue during their term of office. The next term of office will be from February 1, 2011 to January 31, 2014.
If you are unable to attend the meeting, nominations may also be made by written petition if signed by five or more affected producers of turfgrass from your district. Written petitions must be mailed or faxed to the Washington State Department of Agriculture, Commodity Commission Program, PO Box 42560, Olympia, WA 98504-2560, Fax: (360)902-2092, and postmarked
no later than November 29, 2010.
