Frances Nobuko Nanto, age 94, a long time resident of Moses Lake, Washington, passed away Nov. 9, 2010 at Summer Wood Special Care Center from natural causes. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, Nov. 13, 2010 at Kayser’s Chapel of Memories. Interment will follow at Pioneer Memorial Gardens. Viewing will be from noon to 5:00 P.M., Friday, Nov. 12, 2010 at Kayser’s Chapel. Arrangements are in care of Kayser’s Chapel & Crematory. Frances was born on a farm in Silesia, Montana on Dec. 9, 1915, the third child of Koshichi and Akiyo Kuwahara. She went to High School in Miles City, Montana. After graduation she married Tom Kiyoshi Nanto on May 25, 1935 in Lodge Grass, Montana, where Tom worked on the railroad.

They also lived Toluca, Crow Agency and Hardin, Montana. In 1952, they moved to Moses Lake to work on the farms and the Moses Lake Golf Course.

Frances is survived by sons and daughters-in-law: Robert and Suzie Nanto (Ramsden) of Pueblo, Colorado; James and Debra Nanto (Reynolds) of Moses Lake; Dick and Masako Nanto (Kawakami) of Clifton, Virginia; Howard and Sherrie Nanto (Thomas) of Lacey, Washington; Edward Nanto of Moses Lake and Harvey and Roxanna Nanto (Brooks) of Malaga, Washington; 12 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; one brother, William Y. Kywahara of Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Frances was preceded in death by her parents, Koshichi Kuwahara in 1951, Akiyo Kuwahara (Shigeiqumi) in 1971; her brothers, Thomas Y. Kuwahara in 1943 and John S. Kuwahara in 1991; sisters, Mary T Kuwahara (Hashisaki) in 1987, Ruth T. Kuwahara (Gandara) in 2008, and Myra J. Kuwahara (Pena) in 2004.

Thanks to all the good friends and families of the area that have known the Nanto’s for many years. A special thanks to the staff at Summer Wood for taking such good care of Frances.
