William (Bill) Ray McHargue

William (Bill) Ray McHargue left this life suddenly on Monday November 1st 2010, after being airlifted to Deaconess Hospital in Spokane with heart complications.

Bill was born March 7, 1942 in Ontario, Malheur County, Oregon to Rush and Emily (Maupin) McHargue. He was lucky enough to meet and somehow convince Sandra Gill to marry him on February 11, 1963 in Idaho Falls, Idaho. That union started a great adventure for Bill and Sandra. They attended the University of Idaho where Bill earned his BS in Ag Education in 1968 and a Masters of Veterinary Science in 1971. More important than the education at this time, was the family beginning to be formed. Their family would consist of three children before the completion of his education - Susan, Dan and Sheryl. Bill taught High School Ag Education in various towns throughout the northwest including White Salmon, WA, Twin Falls, ID, Klamath Falls, OR, Cambridge, ID. and Moses Lake, WA. Along this great journey the rest of the family was completed by adding Lori, Lisa, and Ron.

Bill was a natural born teacher, and he was loved and respected by all his students. The opportunity to purchase and operate a small engine repair shop presented itself. So on January 5, 1990 B & S Small Engine Repair was created. Bill and Sandra owned and operated the shop for 21 years. Although he was not involved in education any more, Bill never lost his passion for teaching. His six children and 23 grandchildren can attest to that. He had a passion for life and a genuine love that was felt by everyone around him. It was important to him to instill good values into his children and if you ask them, he was successful. Work was just a part of life. He taught us all how to work hard and do a good job. He spent a lot of his time planning fun projects for his grandchildren to enjoy and learn from.

Bill had a special quality of making everyone feel loved. His cheerful, optimistic nature drew people to him naturally. He was so full of knowledge and knew the right time to impart that knowledge to those in need, especially his kids and grandkids.

Everything he did was centered around his family. He was the light of their lives. His life of service continued after his death as he was an organ donor helping many people improve the quality of their lives. How he will be missed!

Bill was preceded in death and now joins his older brother Robert Leon, his father Rush Goodman and a granddaughter Allison Hope Evers.

Left to mourn his loss are his loving wife, Sandra; mother, Emily McHargue of Meridian ID; brothers, Jack (and his son, Tom) of Troy, ID and Joe (Mary) of Burns, OR. Six children and their spouses: Susan (Mohamed) Khatouri of Springfield, VA; Dan (Carla) McHargue of Vancouver, WA; Sheryl McHargue of Moses Lake; Lori (Brad) Evers of Moses Lake; Lisa (Don) Puhlman of Linden, VA; and Ron (Lacey) McHargue of Seattle, WA. Bill leaves 26 well loved grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, another on the way due in February, an aunt, Marilyn McHargue Goul of Ontario, OR. and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held November 13, 2010 at 10:00 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints on Nelson Road. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Bill McHargue Memorial Fund at US Bank, 203 E Third Ave., Moses Lake, WA 98837
