ENTIAT - On Saturday at Entiat High School, the Warden Lady Cougars (7-9) wrapped up their season with two 3-1 losses at the Central Washington 2B volleyball district tournament.

First off, Warden lost 3-1 (25-22, 12-25, 25-18, 25-23) to Liberty Bell.

Iris Rodriguez and Carter Marks each had eight kills for Warden, while Hannah Bisnett chipped in with four kills.

Keisha Urwin added three kills and Lindsay Cole set 18 assists.

Rodriguez led the Warden serving game with four aces.

In the Lady Cougars' loser out match against Waterville a little later, they dropped a 25-19, 28-26, 21-25, 25-14 decision to get dropped from the tournament and state finals contention.

Marks finished with nine kills and three blocks, Rodriguez added eight kills and four aces, and Bisnett tallied six kills and two blocks.

Cole ended her career with an 18 assist performance while Chelsea Brown provided Warden with seven assists and three kills.

"It was a disappointing day as we felt we would do better and compete for a berth to the state tournament," Warden head coach Jeff Kottong said. "The Lady Cougars worked real hard this past week in preparation, but then never developed a rhythm to play consistent in both matches. We struggled defensively to dig and pass well enough to set up our offense. Our movement on the court was lackluster."

Despite the poor ending to the 2010 campaign, Kottong found plenty to be proud of.

"The team had a successful league season as this was the first winning league season for volleyball in 12 years," he said. "We will definitely miss our senior players - Carter Marks, Lindsay Cole and Lara Crow. We are a young team with six sophomores on our postseason roster."
