River Dogs' season begins

EPHRATA - The River Dogs Senior Babe Ruth baseball team will kick off its season this weekend at the Memorial Baseball Classic which will take place at three different sites Saturday through Monday.

The 11-team tournament consisting of a junior and senior division takes place at the Johnson/O’Brien Stadium, Boruff Stadium, and Rotary Park in Ellensburg.

The River Dogs are in the five-team senior division along with Bellevue Honda, Showtime. Snohomish County, and Magnolia Baseball.

At 10 a.m. tomorrow the River Dogs open the tournament with a game against Magnolia Baseball at Johnson/O’Brien Stadium

The team is coached by Randy Boruff, Dave Johnson, Chuck Hansen, Sonny Garza, and Ray Hamilton. Jerry Henderson is the River Dogs’ general manager.

Memorial Day Tournament Schedule: River Dogs vs. Showtime (Saturday, 5:30 p.m., Johnson/O’Brien), River Dogs vs. Snohomish (Sunday, 10 a.m., Johnson/O’Brien), River Dogs vs. Bellevue Honda (Monday, 9 a.m., Johnson/O’Brien). Finals: 2 p.m., Monday at Johnson/O’Brien, Senior #1 vs. #2; Third-Place game: 2 p.m., Monday at Boruff, Senior #3 vs. #4.
