Annual Spring Festival parades are Saturday
MOSES LAKE — Two annual parades are planned for Saturday during the Moses Lake Spring Festival.
The kiddie parade is set to begin at 6 p.m. at Sinkiuse Square, said organizer Gail Hellewell. In the past the parade featured kids with their parents, in electric toy cars or on horses.
Any youth interested in being a part of the parade must meet at the square at 5:30 p.m., she said.
During the parade, judges will select a grand marshal to walk in the Grand Moonlight Parade, Hellewell said.
The parade route leaves the square on Ash Street to Fourth Avenue, she said. The parade will cross on Dogwood Street to Third Avenue, back to the square.
Hellewell said the event is great to watch and encourages people to come support the kids participating.
The kiddie parade is sponsored by Cobblestone Corner.
The Grand Moonlight Parade begins at 8:30 p.m., said Parade Chair Braxton Kirwin. So far there are about 75 parade entries featuring floats, bands, churches, dance clubs, Moses Lake Sister City and local businesses.
He said the parade is the third largest in the state and attracts entries from all over the state.
“We have a ton of entries,” Kirwin said. “There will be fun for everyone. It’s a really fun thing for people to come out and see.”
The parade route begins at the intersection of Dogwood Street and Fourth Avenue. It continues down Fourth Avenue, takes a right on Division Street, a left on Fifth Avenue, a left on Pioneer Way, a loeft on Third Avenue and continues to Ivy Street.
The Grand Moonlight Parade is sponsored by RE/MAX Professionals.
Beginning at 4 p.m., Moses Lake police will close all the intersections involved with the parade route. Vehicles must be removed from the route by 6 p.m.
