Gerald M. “Jerry” Oestreich passed away on Friday, May 21, 2010 after a long battle with cancer.
Jerry was born January 29, 1930 in Ritzville. He graduated from Grand Coulee High School. He married Delores in May of 1950. Jerry joined the U.S. Navy and served in the Korean War. Before moving to Moses Lake in 1958, he worked on the construction of the Power House at Grand Coulee Dam. Jerry retired from the FAA and spent his retirement days building and flying airplanes and restoring antique cars. Jerry’s son Steve bought “Foxy” Thiel’s Pastime Tavern in Ritzville and Jerry engineered the restoration and reopening of the tavern. Jerry arranged his first date with Delores with a call from the phone booth inside the Pastime.
Jerry is survived by his wife Delores and his sons Steve (Lori) and Ken. At Jerry’s request there will be no services. He will be interred at the Ritzville cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the American Cancer Society. Jerry will be missed by all that knew him.
