Friday's fire remains under investigation

| May 25, 2010 9:00 PM

MOSES LAKE — The cause of a fire that destroyed potato storage sheds on West Broadway Avenue in Moses Lake Friday is not yet determined.

Fire Chief Tom Taylor said the Moses Lake Fire Department spent four hours on Saturday investigating the fire. The cause remains under investigation.

Firefighters were able to contain the fire to the storage shed and surrounding grassy area, he said. There were several adjoining properties and businesses that were not damaged.

The crew remained at the scene until about 11 p.m. Friday putting the fire out and clearing the area.

Taylor estimated about 250,000 gallons of water was used during suppression efforts.

The storage sheds were empty and had not been used in many years.
