Gary Harold Stretch
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gary Harold Stretch, on Thursday, May 13th, 2010 at his home in Moses Lake, Washington, surrounded by family and friends.
Gary was born in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan on April 18th, 1953 to Stan and Marion Stretch.
He spent his first 28 years in Edmonton, Alberta, then headed to the States where he met his best friends Scott Thornbrugh and decided to get a job and stay. He worked for various orchards over the years and with the help of another good friend, Kole Tonnemaker, he became a permanent resident.
He enjoyed working in the industry, and did an excellent job maintaining their orchards. It was not til early 2000 when he became a Nursing Assistant working for the Munro House. It was there that he felt he was doing what he was born to do.
He leaves to mourn his father Stan Stretch, brothers Brian (Elaine), Kelvin (Debbie) and Floyd, and his two sisters Val Morin and Sandy (Marc) Lapointe. Gary is also survived by his children Rob (Tara), Stacey (Daryl), five grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his Mom, Marion in April 2008.
Gary’s wish was to donate his body to science so further studies could be done on this horrible disease called cancer.
The family wishes to thank Denise, Gary and Holly and the many numerous friends that Gary had who were there with him when he needed them most.
A memorial service will follow at a later date.
