Warden golf teams cruise

WARDEN — With the District Tournament starting Tuesday the Warden girls golf team tuned up by winning their last dual meet of the season on Thursday.

The Lady Cougars shot a 431 to outdistance Zillah and Wahluke at Sage Hills.

Warden’s Lara Crow was medalist with a 102 following up a practice round the day before where she recorded a hole-in-one on the par three 10th hole.

Warden’s Haley Buck added a 108, Taylor Edson shot 109, and Brittany Stavig finished with a 112.

Five girls head now to the Prospector Course at Suncadia tomorrow to see if they can advance to next week’s state tournament.

Warden takes SCAC finale

WARDEN — Behind Brandon Wurzer’s 84 the Warden Cougars rolled to a win over Zillah and Wahluke on Thursday to end their South Central Athletic Conference (SCAC) regular season with a win.

Warden scored a 353 behind Wurzer, Trent Bates (88), Nate Stott (90), and Kenny Sullivan’s (91).

Caleb Caballero shot a non-scoring round of 92 and Adam Hansen finished with a 97.

All six boys qualified for tomorrow’s district tournament at Suncadia.

Zillah finished with a 396 while Wahluke did not field a complete scoring team.
