EPHRATA — An Ephrata man is serving three years for robbing an Ephrata gas station in November.

A jury found Cody W. Miller, 18, guilty of robbery in the first degree in April.

Grant County Superior Court Judge Evan Sperline followed the prosecutor’s recommendation, sentencing Miller to three years. The sentencing range for the crime was about 2.5 years to about 3.4 years.

Miller and a friend parked in the Best Western parking lot where Miller told his friend he was going to use the computer. While the friend was buying a soda at the Tiger Pause gas station, he spotted Miller enter carrying a gun and start to rob the store, according to an Ephrata police report.

Miller was 17 when he was charged as an adult under a state law mandating that 16 or 17 year olds be tried as an adult for certain crimes, Prosecutor Angus Lee said.
