Quincy child recovered after Amber Alert
QUINCY — An Amber Alert was issued by the Quincy Police Department to locate a 2-year-old Quincy boy Thursday night.
Hector Hernandez Velasquez, 21, was arrested for kidnapping in the second degree, burglary in the first degree, criminal conspiracy, unlawful possession of a firearm, riot, assault in the fourth degree and unlawful carrying of a weapon-brandishing.
Four suspects including Hernandez Velasquez reportedly entered a residence on H Street Southeast in Quincy, police reported. All four suspect reportedly brandished firearms in their waistbands.
During the home invasion, one person was allegedly assaulted and a 2-year-old boy was taken. The boy is Hernandez Velasquez’s son.
Shortly after the incident was reported, an Amber Alert was issued to locate the suspects, vehicle and child.
“Quincy officers attempted to locate the vehicle and suspects in Quincy,” police reported. “The suspect vehicle was later located and stopped by the East Wenatchee Police Department in East Wenatchee, where the driver was arrested on unrelated charges.”
Hernandez Velasquez was not in the vehicle.
He reportedly called a Quincy officer and advised where he could be found in Quincy. Officers responded and found the suspect and the boy.
“The child was safely reunited with his mother,” police reported. “This case is an on-going investigation to develop other suspects.”
