MOSES LAKE — Recently the Columbia Colstor & Food Pavilion Relay For Life teams hosted our 4th annual Dinner/Dance/Auction, which was sold out a month in advance and a huge success, thanks to the generosity of the Moses Lake community. Approximately $20,000 was raised for the American Cancer Society to help fund research, patient programs, Camp Goodtimes, as well as, gas and lodging for cancer patients and their families from our area. In 2009 more than 212 local patients were directly served, including a total of 82 hotel rooms and 5 cancer patient children attending camp with funds raised at our local Relay.

A special thank you to Tom Willner and Urban Blue of Atlanta for spectacular performances and listening to this crazy scheme last summer; Wells Fargo Insurance-Yakima, Odom Distributing and Ameristay Inn and Suites for sponsoring the band, Kile Jackson for the instruments and sound, Pillar Rock Grill and Michael’s Bistro for the facilities, awesome food and service both nights, Columbia Basin Herald for the advertising and coverage, and Don McGraw and Cameron Rector for supporting us. To everyone who donated auction and balloon pop items, purchased tables, came to the event, had a fun time, enjoyed great food and dancing to fabulous music, we couldn’t have done it without you!

Plans are already in the works for our 5th annual fund-raiser next March and we hope to bring back Tom and Urban Blue for an encore performance, if scheduling and sponsorship permits, as well as some new ideas to make it even bigger and better. Please contact us if you would like to help sponsor.

The 22nd annual Grant County Relay For Life will be held on June 4-5 at the Moses Lake High School track beginning at 6 p.m. If you would like more information visit our Web site at http://relayforlife.org/moseslakewa . We hope to see you at the track!

Thanks to everyone for making a difference!
