MOSES LAKE — A 10-year-old Moses Lake girl was airlifted to Sacred Heart Medical Center after being struck by a van on state Route 17, Tuesday afternoon on state Route 17, one mile north of Moses Lake.

Kara A. Williams, 26, Moses Lake, was traveling northbound on the highway in a 1993 Mercury van, the Washington State Patrol reported.

The girl allegedly ran into the roadway and was struck by the oncoming van, the state patrol advised. The girl allegedly failed to yield the right-of-way to the oncoming vehicle.

The 10-year-old was transported to Samaritan Healthcare for treatment of several broken bones, the state patrol reported.

The injuries were serious and she was airlifted to the Spokane to continue her medical care, said Trooper Rich Magnussen.

Williams was not injured.

No citations were issued to Williams because it was determined the crash was not her fault, the state patrol reported.

About $1,000 worth of damage was reported to the van and it was driven from the scene.
